HAS GOD SPOKEN?

Has God spoken?

Has God given you promises concerning your life and yet you feel like these promise(s) are never being fulfilled?

He seems to have kinda forgotten that He ever spoke right?

I know, I have lived on that street, but God came to my house peeked in right through the porch asked if I wanted to move houses. See God is good, He speaks my language and pretty much by the time we finished talking, I shut the door and did not carry anything from my old house.

So take heart heart child of the Most High God.I think I know a little of something and I really want to bring you on this journey.

Take a few moments and allow me to share what I have gleaned from the Book of Acts.

But first take a small stop at Romans 1:8 -10 and Paul is in Corinth (bible scholars generally seem to agree that this was where he was when he wrote the letter to the Romans). In these verses he is expressing his desire to go to Rome, in actual fact it is such a deep desire that my translation refers to it as “longings”. He is in these verses praying that God would make a way for him to be able to go to Rome and meet with the brethren there.

Journeying on in Acts, Paul while in Jerusalem is arrested and many false accusations are posited against him. The Sadducee bay for his blood. He is arrested. He is in chains.

Paul does not know it yet but you and I know that his journey to Rome has just began-in chains.

You see God is not a man.God does not plan and plot things like you and I would.

Between you and I, hasn’t Paul kinda “earned” his place? Doesn’t he deserve for his “longings” to be delivered to him on a gold plate?

Wrong thought, wrong mentality and wrong position. That is what God is telling me. No entitlement whatsoever. I “earn” nothing.

Paul’s secret?

Glad you asked?

“Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle and singled out for God’s good news-…” Romans 1:1 Holman Christian Standard Bible.

Journey on…

In responding to his myriad of accusations, God gives Paul wisdom to silence his accusers.

Eventually taken to the Sanhedrin where a split occurs between the Sadducee and Pharisees and fearing that Paul would be torn into pieces the commander brings Paul into the barracks and there the Lord speaks;

On the following night the Lord stood near Paul and said, “Be brave; for as you have solemnly and faithfully witnessed about Me at Jerusalem, so you must also testify at Rome.”

Oh! If that does not excite you, well I do not know what else will in this post 🙂 (Sunny side up)

God knows our hearts, it is not like he did not know Paul had longed to visit Rome and meet with the brethren there and share the good news.

What desires do you have?

You see Paul desired to go to Rome to do what he had been doing all along- share the gospel and meet with other brethren.

Paul’s desire was not just granted based on his faithfulness- and boy hadn’t he been faithful? No. In fact he faces two Governors Felix and Festus, he faces King Aggrippa and in all this Paul never forgets Acts 23:11-in spite of and despite of the passage of time.

Paul was in chains.

Paul kept his eyes on the promise.

Journey on…

Paul pictures Rome as he sets sail finally.

It isn’t his ideal set up-in chains- hey but he still gets to go! Rome here we come.

Well not so fast brother.

Shipwreck.

Wait! Say that again?

Yes.

Shipwreck.

Just when he was about to seize his prize, just when it was coming to pass…the ship took “…violent battering from the storm…” See Acts 27:18

C’mmon!! I know right?

Just when we had this figured out. Just when we saw the break through.

Not so fast.

You see my friend, God is not a man; He does not plot and plan like we do.

God had a pit stop for Paul.

God in this point in time appears as if He “deviates” Paul from his main course and sets him “off course” BUT in actual sense Paul was “in the CAUSE”.

How many times have you seen “deviations” on your path and your reaction was Offensive?

How many times God’s direction veered a little bit from what we perceived the journey to be?

Do we protest?

Do we throw tantrums?

Or do we…

“…It happened that the father of Publius lay sick with fever and dysentery. And Paul visited him and prayed, and putting his hands on him, healed him. And when this had taken place, the rest of the people on the island who had diseases also came and were cured.” Acts 28: 8-9 ESV

Journey on…

Woooohooo!

Paul sets sail. Rome this must be it!

Remember…

Paul was in chains.

He arrives in Rome under guard and is a prisoner. What does he do? He witnesses to them “from morning to evening explaining about the kingdom of God…” (See Acts 28:23)

“… preaching and proclaiming the kingdom of God and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ with all openness and boldness, unhindered and unrestrained.” Acts 28:31

Paul was in chains.

Has God spoken to you?

What is our attitude towards His promises?

Are we throwing tantrums at God, serving Him on our terms because things are not working for us?

Are we in chains?

Are we unhindered and unrestrained?

Journey ends…

Child of God

“God is not a man—He doesn’t lie. God isn’t the son of a man to want to take back what He’s said, or say something and not follow through, or speak and not act on it.” Numbers 23:19

God will definitely keep His end of His Word.

In chains or not will you Keep trusting Him?

As always run your race.

Keep your eyes fixed on Him.

Loving you with His Everlasting love; His love NEVER fails.

Yes He says so.
